Yes, congradulations! I've said this before, but i will reiterate it here again...there is no better place in the world in my opinion than touring this island on a motorcycle. This island has some of the most beautiful, scenic, majestic mountain legs of any place in the world--with twisting and curving roads that are a both a motorcyclist and a ski jumpers dream come true. On many down hill slopes where the grade is nearly 20%, you can get enough momentum and speed to jump over chicken shacks, outhouses, and fruit stands and possibly clear whole rivers. Evil Kneivel would have loved it here.
This island is the motorcycling Mecca of the Caribbean. Hands down. No one else comes remotely close. Sure, Cuba has the potential, and one day, say--100 years from now--they may offer some kind of direct competetion in the form of battery powered motorbikes, but sadly, right now, they have neither motorcycles nor any fuel on the island that posseses a higher grade than kerosone.
No, again, this island is where it's at. Period. I have motorcycles in both Norway and here, and no place i've ridden compares to riding motorcycles on this island, where on numerous occassions, i've had the misfortune of mis-judging a curve and gone cascading over people's outhouses and rivers and found myself on yet another undiscovered trail, where i've continued onwards--lost for three days--and run into lost pilgrims left over from Christopher Columbus's search team who have been wondering aimlessly around the island for centuries looking for gold in the New World.
No other island in the Caribbean offers this amount of fauna, wild flowers, and virgins, whom, unbeknownst to the adventure rider, have sent out their heavenly scents in a wave of intoxicating hormonal essences that permeate the air for 20 square miles--sending people into a paroxysm of ecstacy--making one stop in the middle of a trail, disembark the motorcycle, and hump any stationary object in one's way path. This is motorcycling at its very best--this heightened state of ecstacy where the motorcyclist is one with the trail and asphalt--it's the Zen of Motorcycling at its most pleasurable, and its what pushes one on despite having chaffed buttocks and blisters the size of softballs.
No other place in the world offers the motorcycle enthusiast both the ecstacy of adventure and the joy of flying, then right here on this island.
