From today's Sosua News:

[h=5]Several informants told us about a swindler who calls himself Mariel Dorielen and fooled several hotels in Sos?a. If he presents himself at the desk, he looks reliable and tidy and is accompanied by a nice briefcase. Because he also indicates to make use of all the services of the hotel like restaurant and bar, and tells the staff he doesn't like to go out at night, he is allowed to pay on check out. Then he makes exuberant use of the restaurant and bar. If the next day at the desk he checks out he says that he has to go to the bank to get the necessary money to pay. He leaves his briefcase at the desk behind. Then he disappears.[/h][h=5]The suitcase appears on closer inspection to be a cheap copy, just filled with old newspapers. Both the hotel staff and the police are now in Sos?a and surroundings eagerly looking for this slick crook.[/h]

Someone needs to translate for the Dominicans, the English idiom "don't judge a book by its cover", a metaphorical phrase which means "you shouldn't prejudge the worth or value of something, by its outward appearance alone"
