Hi, I'm looking for a pick up to buy... What do you think about a chevrolet blazer s10. It has 4,2l engine, equiped with gasoline and gas?
Its ? 95, with 190.000 km. Especially in terms of maintainance, and fuel consomption?
:)

Switch the engine.... they have perfectly good rebuilt engines here.

190,000kms is a bit much.

My friend wants to do exactly that.... buy an old, wornout truck.
One that nobody would consider stealing, rebuild/replace the engine and make it roadworthy in all other regards...not the shell.

Would be good, economical transportation --- to his mind

Well, the one I could buy doesnt seem to be wornout but in quite a good shape.
So why should the engine be replaced?
What about maintainance for such a truck in DR, compared to the usual toy, mitsu...
:)

Maintenance wise, most mechanics know how to fix Toyota and Mits, but not too many are familiar with Chevy. I used to own a Chevy and it took a mechanic 8hrs plus to change a belt. With a Toyota or Mits (which he was familiar with) it would have taken less than an hour. The only guy that knew anything about Chevy's was Stephan the German mechanic in Sosua. If I were you I would buy a Toyota or a Mits, but would lean more to the Toyota.....my thoughts anyway

I had a friend who owned a LOADED 2000 Blazer. Gas hog. Unsellable. After trying to sell it for 2 years, he practically had to give up for 80k pesos...

My wife's father has a well-maintained '92 Toyota 4WD/manual tranny diesel crew cab truck for sale.

Not the purtiest, but a solid campo work truck he's owned for many, many years.
