The last time I checked in el Supermercado Nacional and this was about 2 months ago
it was a little more than $1000 pesos. That was for a 10 pounder,so you can imagine
what a bigger one will cost.

I bought a whole pig for 4000 pesos one day before Christmas eve 2011.
The whole street enjoyed the party roasting it and eating the next day.

Of course we had to kill it first :):bandit:

Pricey. You might be better off going to Rocky's for 599RD, much of which goes to children's charities.

Don't start about charities with me !
A lot of you gringo's come to support the single mothers for a day.:bandit:
And then make remarks like yours!

And you're damn right that's pricey!
Pigs are a lot cheaper when you buy a few days ahead. About 2500 pesos a pig.
I didn't mind though.
The whole neighbourhood was helping killing the pig.
We danced and laughed through the night.
Having a party outside your house in the barrio cannot compare to anything!
Even Haitianos and Dominicans come together.

Eso es mi cualto:)

Hey Shrimp Gumbo,

This thread was about the price of turkey, not a pig roast in the barrio.
