hi everyone, what would be a ok price for a car insurance
My car is a 95 ford ranger (value ~4000 us$)

You will only get Seguro de Ley. But you still get roadside assistance, casa de conductor, full third-party liability, etc. It runs about 6.500 pesos per year with Seguros Banreservas (2001 vehicle), I am sure Seguros Pepin is much cheaper but will they step in when needed? Even for Seguro de Ley you should have a reliable insurance company, not a concho insurance carrier.

Seguro de Ley means liability insurance. Meaning against 3rd parties. It does not cover damage to your own vehicle (but includes damage caused to passengers in your vehicle) plus does not cover your vehicle in case of theft or salvage.

ah ok and does it also cover damages caused by my car to another driver, in case of accident for exemple...

A lot has been written here that it is true. But I know people that are not residents, and I have yet to see anyone denied payment on car insurance. And I have seen many that collected.
