Hi All,

once again I need to pick your brains,
Last year a friend of mine visited DR (North Coast) with a Caxton FX currency card, which is a pre-paid visa card; I recall his experience in using this card in ATMs was not great, only being able to withdraw very small amounts or nothing at all.

Has anybody else on the forum got an experience of using these cards and if so how successful have they been.

Need to know before I charge mine up and visit to find my money is trapped on plastic I cant use.

Thanks in advance

What payment systems does it support?
Is the card affiliated with VISA, MasterCard or ?
What limitations if any are placed on the card by the issuer?

Have you tried to use a bank teller for a cash advance rather than an ATM?
I have never used an ATM machine in RD and I never will use one.
Call it my ?I never want to be robbed mentality!?

Bank folks have been extremely helpful.

HI:

I am in the DR about half the year and use my ATM card all the time. It depends on the bank machine how much you can withdraw. I have had some that will only allow a couple of thousand pesos and others, such as, Scotia Bank where I could withdrawl rd10,000. If you have a Visa or Mastercard Debit/Credit card that is what I would recommend you use. You will pay a bank fee but you are also getting a very good exchange rate
