My sister has low thyroid activity so I wanted to know the approximate costs daily for Synthroid, Levoxyl, Armour, Thyrolar medication equivalent here. She has here appointment tomorrow so I wanted to be able to tell her more or less what those medications cost here.

synthroid costs about 22 pesos per pill. depends on milligrams and dosage.
generic equivalent called SYNOX, from laboratorios puerto rico costs from 6 to 11 pesos per pill. i recon it is much better because it comes in a wider variety of doses so it is easier to take.

Isn't most thyroxine prescribed in micrograms/ mcg?

This all depends on the type of medication, and dv8 is right about milligrams. My dosage is 100mcg(?g)/day or .100 mg. Same dosage of levothyroxine, but depends on the brand or generic name. Ex: 50mcg Synthroid can be absorbed differently than .05mg of Levoxyl etc. even though the level of levothyroxine is the same.

Nevertheless, if your sister is prescribed any type of hypothyroid medication it is very important that she takes it every day.

the answer is yes and no. synox is sold by milligrams: 0.025, 0.037, 0.088 and so on...

i think it is important here that the patient takes exactly what was prescribed and synox is sold in the largest variety.

for those more into known labs, there is also eutirox by merc: 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 mcg.

and sorry, synox is made by neon labs.
