Claro 10Mbps Internet in El Cortecito?

I realize there have been threads in the past regarding internet service but I'm asking anyway in hopes that there is new information or experiences with Claro.

I currently have Tricom (wireless WiMAX) and although I'm satisfied with the quality of the service, I would like faster internet. Tricom WiMAX peaks at 1.7Mbps down and about 500Kbps up. Claro advertises 10Mbps down / 1Mbps up and they've told me it's available where I live but I'm leery that they can live up to their claims. Does anyone have Claro internet operating at that speed?

Thanks.

Hmmmm..... 74 reads.... no responses.... not encouraging. I may just have to give it a go and see what happens.

I got (again) a second Wimax unit from Tricom, it is 3 mb down 768 up now. Technician told me they will have 4G soon in Bavaro...

Codetel I am not sure, I would like to know too. If I remember correctly they told me 4mb is the maximum, but that was month' ago...

I now have around 6 megs down with my Orange Flybox... It lasts for the whole month, as I get 40GB of download per month, and I normally use 1GB/day...

Where? In Bavaro / Punta Cana?

If so, lucky guy! I ditched Orange since it had a steady dl of about 200 kb before even reaching the cap! Useless for me.

This is from Claro. But it is in my office in the Hard Rock Casino. I don't think this is available for residencial.

Seriously? My parents in Cocotal have one of those Orange Flyboxes and it's a useless piece of crap. Half the time it doesn't even work and the other half the bandwidth is awful.

OMG! Who is a provider?? Damn if i could get at least 1/5 of that id move right now to PC.

I get over nine about 2km outside of Las Terrenas. My ISP buys high-speed from Claro and then beams it over las lomas. Success with this method depends a little on topography.

My Flybox is a dream, but I am located near an Orange antenna... My download speed is probably one of the highest of the island, above 6 megs... For the entire month...
