Hello out there. Does anyone know what the closest airport to Samana is? Is it Puerto Plata or La Romana? Also is there an inexpensive hotel in Samana, close to a beach? Thanks
Puerto Plata would be easiest and closest. Crossing Samana Bay on ferry might help with respect to time if you come from La Romana, but that carries with it a host of other problems for the unfamiliar visitor.
Puerto Plata and Santiago are the closest international airports to Samana. Santiago is brand new so you may have to do some checking for carriers. I know Lynx Air out of Fort Lauderdale flies there.
Regarding La Romanna, its too much trouble to get to Samana from there.
The best connection would be to fly Air Santo Domingo into Herrera International in Santo Domingo and then take the Air Santo Domingo commuter plane to Samana.
