What's The Most Corrupt Government In The World?

A comparison of all the bribery, crookery, profiteering, nepotism, exploitation, and shady dealings of the public sector, by country.

Every year since 1995, the nonprofit organization Transparency International has been publishing a "Corruption Perceptions Index" where countries are ranked--based on data from a several surveys and assessments--from 0 to 100, "0" being "totally corrupt" and 100 being "totally clean."

The DR places high enough but it's not the worst!

Yachty,
That would be 117 out of 168 for the DR ? Worse that Mexico and Guatamala but better than Ecaudor and Egypt? With USA only ranking 18th !

actually, i am not sure which study this refers to, but some of these findings are perception indices. they are compiled from surveys directed at what people think of the level of corruption in their respective countries. that means that a country such as the DR, which ranks 117 , could , in reality, be 168. the fact that it isn't is probably because of the weighting and importance people place on malfeasance. i have heard many people in the DR state that a politician who does not steal is a pendejo. thinking such as that could indicate that they view corruption from a different standpoint from other societies, which believe that defalcation is a serious offense, that ought not be tolerated.
