The Oldest Lighthouse in the New World (it's in the far background to the right, near the point next to the ocean.):

1. You can't tell by this picture, but this is very high up on a cliff over looking the ocean. There's a crazy hermit who lives up there in a dirt floor shack that he built out of driftwood that he collects along the ocean; he para-glides down to the nearest colmado for his beer. He's eccentric, dangerous, and he bites when not fed!

2. Ignore the girl. she's a homeless hitchhiker i picked up along highway 5.

Great pictures. One of my dreams is to go to a concert at the Altos. Someday perhaps.

"Casa de Campo" has stood the "Test Of Time", not easy to do in the DR!
One of the most spectacular communities I have ever visited!
In the world!!
The house I visited, had 2 pools, a basement (First "Basement" I ever saw in the DR!)with 3 humidity/temperature controlled wine cellars,(For "Whites, Reds, and something else I can't remember) and also an unbelievable, "Movie Theater" with unbelievable sound, and recliners that moved, vibrated, and shook with the action an the screen!
All this topped offf with a fantastic "Botritus Wine" , that I later "Googled", then, "Amazoned", and found the cheapest bottle at $1,400 US a bottle!
It's Good To Have "REALLY RICH FRIENDS"!
Just don't ask him where the money came from!
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
The BIGGEST HOUSE in Casa de Campo?????????????????????
Miguel Vargas, president of the "PRD" political party!
AND, NEVER ask him where he got his money, since we already know! :bandit::bandit::bandit:
"Altos de Chavon", is one of the very few places in the DR, like the "Jardin Botanico" in SD, where you have to ask yourself, "Where The Phuck Am I????????"
They are from a different country.
"This Can't Be The DR!"

Altos de Chavon has everything...but people.

Been three times to just walk around and have lunch.

Nearly deserted.

But a truly amazing place. Highly recommend for a nice day trip.

Would love to go to a concert there...

Btw For the dubious pleasure of entering Casa de Campo non residents (ie. who don't live there) must pay $US25 per person.

"Altos" has many concerts with international "STARS"!
I have often wanted to go, BUT,after visiting the site, I can only imagine getting to the venue, and then getting out!
Seems like the DR "Dropped The Ball",as usual, when it comes to parking, access, snacks, and, most likely,............"Banos"!

"YB", NOT, if you are an "invited" guest!
Without that "Fee" can you imagine what "CdC" would be like filled with "Los Humildes" every weekend?
Eating their, "Esanwis de Espageti con "Cachu" all over the place!

Actually no, CC - I went to the Santana concert there about 4 years ago and the level of organisation was miles better than at any comparable event I'd been to. Getting in and out was swift and painless, a huge contrast with the crowd crushing near-death experiences I remember when getting out of large venues in the UK.

The concert was amazing and was a memorable experience on all counts - including the overpriced pizza.

CC is right that it is like nothing else in RD..... as Chiri says, better organized and presented than most other parts of the world.

That's very non-RD like:classic:

Isn't Iglesias an owner of the PC airport?
He used to live in the area..... no longer??
