I?ve got some days to kill the 9th through 13th, flying out of SD on the 14th. Any suggestions? My budget is modest and I?d rather not spend mutiple days on the road.
Thanks!

I would go to Santo Domingo and stay in the Colonial Zone at the Hotel Conde de Penabla. The hotel is reasonably priced and has a great outdoor cafe directly across the square from the oldest church in the new world. The Hard Rock Cafe and other bars and restaurants are all in walking distance and there are many historical sites to see. Stay there for a couple of days and then move to the malecon, Mariott Renaissance Jaraguas Hotel. They have a nice casino attached and a beautiful pool area. There is also good night life in the area. This hotel is about a 10 minute taxi ride from the colonial zone. Good luck.

You're not geting any traffic here are you? I wonder where all the well-wishers are.

Go to Sosua -- easy bus trip. Book a room at Rocky's Rocky's Rock & Blues Bar and Hotel Home Page.
or some-other-where low-end.

Go to the Jewish museo. Sit on the beach. Visit a few bars and restaurants. Chill.

Rocky's is often booked up this time of year so be sure to call ahead. If you aren't looking for Chicas, then Tropix is nice.

There might be some last minute cancellations though since the NYC airports are shut down due the storm.

Take a bus to Las Terrenas. 2-3 days of relaxed everything. But be warned, maybe you need it every year.

i wouldnt travel to so-sewer if i only had a few days. there is pleanty to do in the capital...there is also juan dolio and even boca chica if you want the beach. Just dont do the beach on sundays if you dont like crowds.

and if you DO go to sosewer...DONT order the scrawny and boney wings at rocky's

there are also many day trips to do in the south....isla saona, isla catalina (if you like snorkeling) and there are day trips to the rivers etc. The OP doesnt have much time...so a four hour bus trip to the north would seem like a waste of time. Especialy as there isnt much to do in sosua. Heck ...when i was in boca a month ago both Frank Reyes and Omega played concerts at the new disco. very nice. then there were are a couple of weddings we crashed at Bocana...free langosta and cake and really good bands. que lindo!
