later Paddy says to Mick have your woman turned up yet NO said Mick but it should not
be long her clothes arrived yesterday

You can believe it or not but many years ago my mother worked in the bush in BC with an older man. He had immigrated from some Nordic country and in his early years after WWII had in fact ordered a woman out of the Eaton's catalogue. He'd heard the term: mail-order brides and was very upset when one of his friends set him straight.
