Hi,

I wanted to know if there are some poker tourneys going on weekly or monthly in one of the casinos in Sosua, Cabarete, Puerto Plata area?

Every Saturday 7pm RD$3,000 entry fee turbo format at Ocean World Casino. Usually no rebuys (about 10 people). Last Saturday every month its now a RD$5,000 long format with rebuys (about 35 to 45 people).

Every Friday 9pm Sosua Playa Chiquita RD$3,000 to enter - rebuy add-ons - long format. (Usually about 30 people)

avoid Playa Chiquita , pretty sure there is some colluding going on.
ocean world seemed fine, need to go there again.

you can also play cash games in the casino at costa dorado

wherever you have dominicans playing together on a table, you have a good chance of colluding. Its not a planned (seating is random) thing, its just culture to communicate with each other to screw the gringo. Its not widespread at this tournament, and if you complain to tournament director they will usually stop it. I play there all the time and would not put up with it, if it was significant or severely hurt the game.

There is a weekly tournament in Playa Dorada at the first casino on the left on Thursdays for a 500 peso buyin.
