a canadian man was arrested in sosua and extradited today for sexual abuse of children. the man is 81 years old and was on interpol wanted list.
see two links:
Canadiense es detenido por abuso a? ni?os - Hoy Digital
Capturan canadiense requerido en su pa?s por delitos sexuales contra ni?os - Diario Libre Movil

this is both bad news and good news. bad news is that trash like this still come to DR. good thing is they are captured and they face the penalty.
not sure what will happen in canada to a criminal that is 81 year old. the same kind of sentence as a younger man?

Too bad they extradited him. I don't know what will happen in Canada, but I know what would have happened to a child molester in a DR prison, 81 years old or not...

There is an article in French in a Montreal paper.

Good to see international cooperation in hunting down these sorts of people. Wonder how active an 81 year old guy could be even with "assistance". Shows that sex crimes involving children are getting the attention they deserveon an international scale. In the US they go on a list and even when they do their time they are forever stigmatized and hounded. At 81 he will probably get some sort of close supervision. Even the US has realized that they do not want the aged in prison and be responsible for their health care.
Aging prisoners is a big expensive problem in the US since there are so many people in jail due to the vigorous prosecution of drug laws. Prisons have become big business.
good news for the DR and Sosua especially.

be glad that you do not have imagination to give you ideas on how much harm can be done without the use of the fleshy tool.

i suspected that much. he will get away with it, pretty much. safe and sound at home, be able to relive his past adventures in the comfort of his own reclining chair...

Here is another article that give more details:
Montreal man, 82, arrested in Dominican Republic after child-sex offences probed by SQ

Joseph-Charles-Philippe C?t? flown back to Montreal Thursday, faces array of criminal charges

Montreal Gazette March 1, 2013 12:04 PM

MONTREAL — After an international effort that included Interpol, Joseph-Charles-Philippe C?t?, an 82-year-old Montreal resident, has been charged with a variety of sex offences involving minors, child pornography and the Internet.

Sought under a Canada-wide warrant, C?t? was arrested in the Dominican Republic and brought back to Canada following a probe by the S?ret? du Qu?bec squad that investigates sexual exploitation of children using the Internet.

He faces counts of production, distribution and possession of juvenile pornography.

C?t? is also being charged with two counts each of sexual contact with a minor and of invitation to sexual contact with a minor.

An arraignment appearance is expected Friday afternoon at the Montreal courthouse, according to a statement issued by the Quebec government.

The Dominican Today website said C?t? was arrested by Dominican police in the oceanside resort town of Sosua, near Puerto Plata on the republic’s northern coast.

The suspect was returned to Canada Thursday afternoon aboard Air Canada Flight 1855, according to the website, which added that C?t? was taken into the custody of Canadian authorities at Punta Cana International Airport.

The investigation began with a tip from Canada Border Services Agency.

The SQ found “hundreds of photos of children in juvenile-pornography poses” when it executed a search warrant on computer equipment belonging to C?t?, according to the statement.

“The investigation also provided evidence that the suspect travelled frequently to the Dominican Republic, with the goal of sexually exploiting children,” the release added.

Further details were not immediately available.

C?t?’s charge sheet indicates an infraction is alleged to have taken place last Oct. 17.

His criminal-court file was opened Feb. 8, the same day the arrest warrant was issued.

It lists his Montreal residential address as a ninth-floor apartment between the Beaudry and Papineau m?tro stations.

Aside from the border agency, liaison staff from the RCMP and Interpol were also involved in tracking the suspect down.

The statement underscored an invitation for anyone able to provide information on the sexual exploitation of children to visit the website cybertip.ca, a national information source that also serves as a tip line.

Well I'm glad they caught him, I wish they left him there for prison, Me being a Canadian, I think our laws and prison system is a joke!!!!!! Not enough time or not harsh enough penalties for law breakers in this country!!!!! Canada is far too lenient and give far too many rights to our law breakers/prisoners!!!!!!

One of my friends was married to a clinical psychologist. She said there is no way to reform sexual predators. Bad wiring plus bad environment as a kid. Even castrating them doesn't stop them.. it's been tried.

I recall talking to a friend in Maine about this once. Apparently one of the Representatives had proposed a law to castrate sexual offenders and the governor resoundingly opposed it saying "The last person executed in Maine was later found do be innocent, can you imagine castrating someone and finding out later we were wrong and having to say I'm sorry" Of course that was pre DNA and such and unlikely to happen now but thought it was kind of humorous

Just saw on the news that he will stay in jail until the March 7th for his pretrial. At this time,he will ask to be release on bail.I dont think he will make bail.It is the Canadian justice that ask for his deportation. He is accused in Canada, not the DR.The police must have a very good case against him to have him deported. It is expensive to deport someone, you can't just trow him on a plane and expect someone to pick him up at the other end.

castrating is no issue. there is still a lot of evil things that can be done to a child. nothing physical really works here apart from life imprisonment and death itself. i cannot say anything about therapy and such. some may learn to control the demon, some cannot be fixed.
but it angers me to think this dude is going to be free because of his age. age did not stop him from hurting other, it should not stop others from hurting him.

i feel the same. canada really needs to get more strict. they do their time and they're out, with a warning to public they're going to reoffend. these creeps can't be rehabilitated. i was hoping DR had more vigilantes to get these jerks.

just wondering what folks think about older women and young men. I've seen women well into their sixties or seventies with "companions" well into their teens. And they flaunt it right on the beach! EWWWWW

oh please. having a woman pay up a teenage boy to plough her dried dead beaver is one thing and raping small kids is a different thing. i have seen some old wrinkled up gringo raisins with young dominicanas. it is a sad deal but a deal it is. done with the agreement and willing participation on both sides.

in this case we are talking child rape, prostitution and pornography. child. not a teenage with buzzing hormones.
