Chavez just died. I wonder how gas prices will be impacted in DR. Not good. I think.

We discussed this some time ago and the discussion was lengthy. No need to beat the dead horse any more.
Black beans for cheap gas.....was a hell of a deal while it lasted....
did Venezuela ever get their beans?
I posted a similar comment in the General Section about Chavez just passing away and wondering what will happen. But I think that post got deleted for some reason, I am not sure.

What will be severely impacted is available DR gubmint cash.Gas Price in US$ will remain the same, the dollar exchange rate is another matter altogether that may be deeply impacted if Venezuela decides to shutdown PetroCaribe.

if they have to pay for the petroleum on anything like net 30 or 60 days, the peso is going to take a serious dump.
i don't think they will in the near future, as maduro will most likely win the next election. mid to long term this will become a problem though and chavez death is probably going to change the political power balance in the entire region.Gas Price in US$ will remain the same, the dollar exchange rate is another matter altogether that may be deeply impacted if Venezuela decides to shutdown PetroCaribe.
