First criticism I've seen in the Sosua News. But a good point is made. The Casa de Arte was inaugurated with great fanfare, then nothing. It is across the street from the casino, where I go daily to the Platinum Gym, and every day I see nothing has been done to make what is supposed to be the home of the Casa de Arte usable for anything.

The only change is that the sign with the mayor's picture has been taken down.

From today's Sosua News:

Casa de Arte a fiasco?

On Sunday August 12, 2012 the house for visual arts (Casa de Arte) in Sos?a was inaugurated officially by Mayor Ilana Neumann and Adolfo Faringthon. There should always be held, as promised, some kind of art exhibition. Mainly artists from Sos?a and surroundings would be given a chance to expose their work to the public. Furthermore there should be organized music, poetry and recitation evenings. Seven months passed by since the opening of the House of Arts and we went by to see what has become of this beautiful precious project. The House of Arts is located opposite the entrance of the Sos?a Bay Casino. On the outside we see a large poster with a photo of the mayor amidst the various art activities. The woodwork looks neglected and inside the building it is a complete mess. The walls still need to be plastered, the floor is bumpy concrete and there is a something that looks like a concrete staircase.

Casa de arte

The official opening of the House of Art, the 'Casa de Arte' seems to us now, given the condition of the building, was bit premature. That Sos?a has or will have a 'Casa de Arte', of course is something to be proud of. But what it is today may not bear that name.
