Anyone got any info on these places? are they decent , quiet beach areas, away from the tourist areas? would like to relax a bit as well as travel but the idea of being treated like just another rich tourist in Punta cana or Puerto plata really has no appeal... much happier hanging with the local, playing dominoes and dancing to bachata, with some coldies, while watching the water....

Nagua is really nice. however nice/better beaches than Malecon are like 2 kms and more from it.... forget about Sanchez. it only may sound nice, nothing interesting there. Samana city could be better.

your own transport is recommended....

santiago / san francisco/ cotui/ sabana grande /monte plata/ la caleta

does anyone know if this route will work with a guagua? I really don't want to go the tried and tested Duarte Santiago -santo domingo route this time if possible, but instead see a bit more of the country en route to the Las Americas airport

Nagua is a quit place a few hotel,s
my opinion not for tourist,s not a very nice beach
a few bar,s in the park
if you go post when you get home
It is where my wife,s family live

Nagua has a nice beach just outside of town with a rather peculiar name- Playa de los Gringos !!
