Default Looking for a clown/animator for 1 year old party in Santiago

I didn't know hiring a clown was so expensive here....In NY I hired a clown for my daughter's 3rd and they sung, painted faces, blew some bubbles, made some ballon animals, and brought along a Dora the Explorer guest. All that for $200 (including the tip). Ive been calling around here and the least I found was $6,000 pesos. I find that way too exaggerated; when I spoke to one clown on the phone and told him what I paid in NY, he says; yeah, just convert it to pesos and it comes out the same; but thats BS; cause and electrician/plumber/carpenter in DR doesn't charge the same as one in the states; why are these clowns charging US prices?

So, in summary, anyone recommend or know a clown for kids party? Basically he/she has to animate, paint faces, ballon animals, and sing alongs. Im in Santiago, cheers!

Your getting a bargain there! Last year I was charged 86,000 pesos for 4 hrs clown, face painter, hot dog & popcorn machine, party music etc. main room decorated with couple of hundred balloons, and figures of Dora the Explorer......I questioned the estimate and was told it included the hire of a vehicle to transport the " specialist equipment". When they arrived ( 1.5 hrs late and with some of the children already in the house), the main organizer wasn't there, he couldn't fit in the old run down vehicle used to bring the folks (6 or 7), and the cake was transported in an open box inside !. When the guy arrived,he apologized for being late, but quickly got going, at the end of the event, he approached me for the 50% balance and got a bit upset when I asked him where the 5000 hired vehicle had gone ( in fact it never arrived), then he really got ****ed off when I refused to pay him 3000 pesos for HIS taxi fare to Bayaguana !!!!!!

I forgot to add they did include finger food for the children, photo invitations (30) if more needed we pay more. I asked for a e-mail copy of the invitation so I could get printed myself but was refused. All in all a rip off. Needless to say, organised locally this year was less than 1/3rd of the year before cost.

How about a day at a tourist hotel that caters to families w/children? I may be wrong, but believe that they can design a day's normal kids activity to tailor around an individual/specific special occasion, i.e., b'day party, etc. Of course, the kids that would be participating might be tourists. Just a thought, , , , , but as a second thought, maybe not what you are looking for for a 1 yr-old. Maybe in the future though.

why would you call a government office to organize children party???

on the other note: have mercy, i beg you. i got tricked to participating a birthday party with a clown. not only he looked like pennywise, he WAS pennywise. after about 10 minutes of this nightmare i was trying to slash my wrists with the plastic fork. i spent the rest of the party locked in the car outside. but i could still HEAR HIS VOICE...

i can get you contact details but no not chase me with your therapy bills afterwards. santiago too, of all places.

pesos, i hope so cheaper than the other place you tried? i am glad i could help then.

when friends did the party for their son it came to 40k pesos in total: the place, food, decorations, drinks, pennywise and even gifts and prizes for other kids in the series of competitions and games. pretty decent, if you ask me. the only thing missing was an AK-47 to take down pennywise. come to think of it that could be a great competition for the parents, by the looks on their faces....

Wow, good info. Many many years ago I did Magic professionally. I used to get 200 bucks for 45 minutes at a bday party 25 years ago. The last two years I have bought about 3k in new equipment just to do some magic for the sobrinos.

I had been toying around with getting back into it if I have some spare time so seeing the prices in this thread is very cool.
