From today's Sosua News:

[h=5]Both Rudy Almonte trainer of a boxing team, as Rolando Merete baseball coach in Sos?a complain about the lack of support they get from the municipal government. The basketball sport receives, as they say, generous support in means of sports equipment.[/h]

[h=5]But the sportsmen, practicing boxing or baseball do not receive anything. They have to buy their own sports equipment. According to Rudy Almonte the boxing sport is very important to teach the youth discipline and control, a good athlete does not smoke nor drink and goes to bed early. Athletes are not involved in criminal activities. According to Rolando Merete this also applies to baseball players. In addition, baseball is the most popular national sport in which a lot of young people participate. However, local teams often do not participate in national tournaments due to the low support of (private) sponsors and municipal government support. Neither receive both coaches compensation for their hard work as a trainer and a small contribution would surely be in place.[/h]
