Like I posted here in DR1, Santiago will be having a new expressway smack in the middle of the city.
What will happen is that they will be adding overpasses/tunnels to some major roads that not sit clogged with traffic at intersections.
This will allow drivers to crisscross the city from North to South or East to West in minutes, non-stop.
Add to that the coming changes to turn two way streets into oneway only, which will alleviate traffic and times of travel, adding safety and order.
Left turns will be prohibited in some intersections in favor of selected corners with two lanes of turns assigned each in others.
Some streets will be strictly shut off to parking on either side, with the creation of public parking facilities able to to handle local residents and commercial vehicles alike.
Local residents will be able to park their vehicles free of charge with only their tags being scanned by cameras as they enter the parking facilities. Non residents will have to pay a fee to park for short periods in selected levels of the parking buildings.
