My daughter uses my old Compaq laptop and now all off a sudden some of the letter keys have turned into number keys. What to do?

Most laptops have a Function key that will change letters to numbers so you can use them like a 10-key. Look at the keys - like the J, K, L, M, U, I, O, etc. Do they have little numbers on them in addition to the letters? If so, find the F-key at the top of the keyboard that has an icon that looks like a 10-key pad or calculator. Hold the FN key down and press that F-key. That should revert you back to all letters.
My Compaq did that, hold FN key while depressing NUM LK key on keypad. No idea what happens but Compaq gave me that as solution and it worked
