You can check on every banks internet sites. They usually have the today exchange rate update.

Usually Canadian Dollar is few pesos bellow American Dollar even when Canadian is few cents over the American Dollar, when american was arround 40.95 at popular bank Canadian was arround 38.60, but if you go to ScotiaBank you will get better xchange rate, almost the same rate than American. As you want to convert from Canadian to American in Dominican Republic is not a very good deal, you better bring american dollars from Canada and will lose less money.
