...I know about "Energy Star" but we are in DR...

So, my question is how I can check the power consume (electricity is expensive in PC...) before I buy it?

I don't want to depend on what the seller says b/c of see above ;)

Any recommendation regarding brand etc.? (Need a not too small one with freezing compartment).

Thanks!

"Energy Star" ratings are a good place to start.
NEVER buy a Dominican made "Fridge".
I made THAT mistake over 10 years ago.
I have had, and still have two, "LG" fridges.
I like them.
There are now "Invertor" models available.
Very Expensive, very low electricity consumption.
I would go with an "LG", or a "Frigidaire".
"Plaza Lama" has the largest selection of all models in stock to choose from.
(We can now expect all the "Conspiracy Theorists" to, yet once more, expound the "Urban Myth" that "PL" sells "refurbes", and/or "returned units.)
I have had 27 plus years in purchasing at "PL".
"No Problemas".

Plaza Lama has fridges as well as Distribuidora Corripio. Bought mine at Corripio a few weeks ago with extended warranty. They supposedly cover any types of repairs, even if cause by electricity surge.
