Ok so im interested buying a new TV and get it trough Amazon, i have never get anything delivred trough the DR so dont really know how it works.

I know the shipping price are crazy, but if anybody has any good info please let me know.

TV would prolly be worth around 1500$ - 55 inch +-

When i order in Canada from Amazon i can pay all the duty fee directly on Amazon and i dont have any surprise when they get to my door, is it possible to do that when its getting ship to the DR?

Nope. Amazon won't take care of paying for your taxes here. Anything over 200US pays taxes, varies depending on the tax colector's humor normally, but some might be able to give you an idea of what to expect. If you have it shipped down with Fedex/UPS/ etc, expect to pay an arm and a leg before they take it out of customs for you.

Find a door to door shipper and get a quote. Then you will know exactly how much it will cost you.

I bought a samsung 52" plasma 3D online from visions a couple years ago, had a friend drop it off at air canada cargo in calgary, shipped to Punta Cana.
Paid $700 for the tv, $150 for the shipping and $600 at customs. The same tv here at the time was over $3000 so it was still worth it but I have to say the customs at PUJ were a real pain. They even charged tax on the shipping fee.
One of the customs officials "helping" me. Told me not to ship it next time and just to bring it with me along with a small donation to "help the needy" So I tried it a few months ago and brought a 32" samsung smart tv with me on the plane. donated $40 to a "needy cause" with my customs slip and walked right through, hope they dont come after me now for posting that.

I brought it as is, right in the manufactures box as my second piece of lugage, no trying to hide it. Stuffed the inside with diapers and spices to fill the spaces and walked right through.

I would not buy online a TV from USA because if it has problems you have to pay for shipping back to origin. Shipping costs plus tax's will make it around the same price as here. Also the TV could easily get damaged in transit.

Certainly all good points, but it really depends on the model of TV as to how much you will save. And I think you will almost always save in price while avoiding an older model or a refurbished unit which frequently is sold here as new. If there is a problem with the set, the best option is to have it repaired locally since sending it back is next to impossible. Some people are risk averse.

Door to Door shippers move such products all the time with little risk.

What airline? If you decide to bring in a TV with you on an air plane larger than will fit in a suit case, be sure to check with the air line that they will take boxes.

taxes for imported tv are 56%, on $1500 this is $840
Costs of carrier (Mailbox etc, Vimenpaq ...) are $4.8 per lb, on about 45 lb this is $220

220 +
840 +
1500 =
------
$2560
RD$ 104900

Better check in the tiendas here, I saw they have good tv's for RD$ 100.000

Taxes on a TV are based upon what DR Customs sets, NOT upon what you pay. Rather than do an estimate like yours, you will get an accurate number if you call a Door to Door shipper and get a firm fixed price quote. Then you will really know the exact total cost.
