What is the journey time in the morning from Costambar gate to the waterfalls on a weekday morning? Can the journey be made by moto or only by taxi, and at what approximate cost? Kind thanks for replies.

You could make it by moto if you really wanted.

Just get on the hwy to Santiago and it's maybe 20km down the road on the left, fairly well marked...

Thanks. I asked as I had read the terrain was not the best, but that statement is probably all relative depending on who you ask.

The terrain from the main road to the actual park is very bad.

Thanks for the advice. Was planning to so the entire hike. Arrive as early as possible so I'm back in the hotel mid afternoon. I hoping or assuming getting a taxi at the falls is not a problem. Was not bringing anything with me other than items I wouldn't want to lose or break. Very helpful thanks.

Why don't you go on the tour? They pick you up, bring you there, and haul you back when you are finished, and probably a lot cheaper than a taxi.

I would but I sense that for the cost one can go on the cheaper by going ala carte. Tours seem to charge upwards of $95+ and the one most recommended, Iguana Mama, doesn't go everyday. I want to go on Friday but the operator only tours on Saturday and Tuesday. May be others but I want to go up to the top and I am having little luck finding a company that does other than Iguana Mama.

the road from the main street to the park entrance is 2 minutes drive. you'll make it in any car.

when we have visitors we always use the same operator, dude names james in playa dorada, 809 320 1076. last time i checked the tour was going daily and the price was 45 dollars, under the tag of jeep safari. usual ride in a campo, waterfalls, lunch. half day deal. give them a call.

they go to 7 waterfalls, according to the brochure. you may part with them there and hire a guide to take you higher up. you may not be able to go past few first waterfalls at all if we have heavy rains next week.

You can also take a guagua, about 100 pesos oneway. Then from the main road its a 15 min walk to the office of the waterfalls.

I sense a guagua just to catch may not be easy let alone how to know where I'm going.
