Fortunately nowadays, after the one that was pretty famous got killed, there are a couple of environmentally inclined groups that keep a watch on them 24x7 until the little turtles are ready to go back to the sea.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources today reported births of infants of a hawksbill turtle in the National District and the leatherback species in the province of La Altagracia.

Through a press release, the institution explains that the birth of infants in the first nest (Eretmochelys imbricata) on the beach G?ibia National District occurred early last Sunday.

Indicates that the majority of infants went to the Caribbean Sea, guided by the waves, and 12 of them, misled by electric street lights could not do it, but later were rescued by deputy minister technicians Coastal and Marine Resources .

Add that small turtles were later released after being evaluated to check for injuries suffered, and so to continue its life cycle.

That is very beutiful I hope that the straddlers were all saved. I think they have a good program of protection here now for these reptiles.
