I wanted to buy some of the Viagra here (4 tablets) and take it back to the US. Will this cause any problems at customs?

Is there an upper limit, or will they demand for a prescription?

Straight answer

If you want the straight answer there may be only a handful of agents who will get excited.;)

No Problem!!!!!!!
But,"Taking" them all before boarding would be a dead give-a-way.
Your huge erection would tip them off!
Or maybe you could find a willing accomplice, and join the "Mile High Club"?????

I believe any so called controlled substance will require a prescription even if you bought it in the DR. You would be traveling at your own risk.
Before he got married, Rush Limbaugh got in trouble when he returned back to the US from the DR several years ago for the same exact thing.

"Viagra", is NOT a "Controlled Substance"!
If you are still worried, go to the customs agent who looks over 50.
He will have sympathy/empathy for you :cry::cry:, and might like a few for himself.

You can bring in up to 3 months of prescription as long as they are not a controlled substance. Ie....perks, oxcies,......bringing them in will get you in trouble. Big trouble. I usually bring home 60-90 viagra and sell them. I do it twice a year.

You cannot buy Viagra in Canada without a prescription, so yes it is a controlled substance in Canada. However, I do not know what the fine or results is if caught bringing it in. All I know is that many guys bring Viagra back with them.

Just because you need a prescription doesn't mean it is a controlled substance.

Before he got married, Rush Limbaugh got in trouble when he returned back to the US from the DR several years ago for the same exact thing.

Actually Rush got into trouble because the pill bottle had someone else's name on it. 3rd party prescriptions are a big red flag at customs as are pot leaf T-shirts.

Bringing in drugs which require a prescription in the USA which are not narcotic is usually overlooked by US customs, especially in their original sealed packaging but agents are within their rights to disallow the contents and confiscate them. Technically you're not even supposed to be able to bring in mamajuana but I've never had that confiscated. My Dominican buddies in the US require regular deliveries of both mamajuana and La pela and the full size Dominican flags that cost a fraction of what you would pay in the USA.

We're not talking about America's best and brightest here. I had one customs Guy single out a can of Cruex, hold it up, read the label and asked "what's this for?". I then proceeded to give idiot-bwoy the lecture about the tropics and "schweddy balls" to the delight of my fellow travelers.

If your erection lasts more than 4 hrs. you may be selected for extra screening on arrival.... dangerous weapon without a licence!
Possessing an illegally imported prescription drug is not worth it.
I usually use a toothpick and an elastic band, works just as well and much cheaper!:nervous:

You're right. In the US, and I presume in Canada, you need a prescription for ANY drug that isn't OTC [over the counter]. Controlled substances are normally narcotics. They cannot be 'called in' to a pharmacy, they require a written scrip, along with the doctor's ID#, and they are kept track of.

I remember a few years ago when Mr. AE got hurt, I took him to the ER where they wrote a prescription for Percocet. I went to RiteAid to fill it, and the pharmacist advised me that he could not fill the prescription. Why? RiteAid had identified the doctor as writing too many scrips for controlled substances. Well DUH, he's an ER Physician! I left, went to CVS, got it filled in 5 minutes, and haven't stepped foot back in RiteAid since.

When I travel to DR, I have a ziplock bag filled with all sorts of painkillers, many controlled, but in their original bottles. I bring them "just in case". They're in my carry-on, and no one has ever questioned them in either direction.

Maybe I just look like I'm falling apart or in pain, haha.

It's not you. Travelers over 35 usually don't get much scrutiny with their med's in properly labeled bottles. If they did we'd all be spending days in line at customs. Ours is an overmedicated society and it's not uncommon to see a 60 y/o on at least 10 different med's.

No one would care, the problem at is core is not having possession of, rather acquiring them at the drug store w/o the prescription in the USA that is. Yet we sale cigarettes and alcohol by the bazillins.......go figure. Redtape at its best!

Are you expecting being frisked? Its only 4 tablets and surely they would if anything just confiscate them?
Don't know if sniffer dogs are trained for Viagra?
Maybe you could just add them in with a dark coloured bottle full of vitamins?
My last suggestion probably isn't worthy of Viagra lol
Hope you get through.

I've flown in and out the states and DR with bags full of Percocet in the past, not a single problem to date. They were prescribed however.
