i suggest you check with your doctor whether you could take any of the other ARBs. some would have generic versions in DR, especially losartan.

generic losartan is sold under the name losartan. there are two versions, 50 and 100 milligrams i can honestly recommend two labs: ethical at 31 pesos for 100 mg and iberofarmacos at 15 pesos for 100 mg. this is a price per pill. both are good, solid dominican laboratories.

check with the doctor first whether losartan will be good for you. whenever someone arrives from USA or europe with specific prescription for the medicine that is rare or expensive in DR i always suggest to revise the treatment with an appropriate specialist.

Hi I have been reading DR1 for 2 years, we live in Sosua (moved here in Oct 2013) loving life here....came from Michigan.....have a similar question about generic drugs....before we came we made sure we had almost a years supply of our medications....as you can do the math, we now need to find the medications here....no problem with my husbands meds but mine are a different story...I take Zoloft (serataline 100mg) two a day, atenenol (found that), klonopin .5 mg 2-3 times a day and ambien 10mg.....have been on these meds for the past several years (life was a mess in the states---had identity theft yuck) Have any suggestions THANKS

sertralina is easily available, under variety of generic names. about 50 pesos per pill.
clonazepam sounds like controlled substance, but one of the posters gets his controlled meds OTC in sosua or cabarete so you may check that with him.
i have not seen ambien, may be controlled as well.

again, may be worth to consult a doctor to see if this combination can be changed. 100 sertralina twice a day plus clonazepam and plus zolpidem is a lot. especially seeing how they interact with each other. check with the doctor to see whether he/she could suggest new course of therapy with drugs that easily available in DR and decently priced. most of the happy pills are not covered with insurance and many are expensive.

I have tried telling people, they won't listen!!! Use the Government farmacias, Losartan 50mg = 0.80 pesos, yes, that's right, LESS THAN 1 PESO per pill

Thanks for your help...I realize this is a lot of medication and actually it is down from what I used to take......bad bad last few years in the States, identity theft which led to loss of home, business etc, son in law diagnosed with non hodgins lymphoma and 2 stem cell transplants (guess we wil never have grandkids), husband had stroke......on and on and now God has given us this beautiful life in the Dominican Republic....we have been married 40 years (yes I was 2 when we married) and now it is time for us to live "our" life....we experienced the crap, lived the crap, grieved the crap and made a new life....
Ambien is zolipedrine....any suggestions on a good doctor....we are not going to keep going back to the states for check ups...my doc in the US reduced my Zoloft and the klonopin I take less and less, only one a day and if some crazy anxiety attack happens but life here has been tranquillo. P.S. should I contact the other poster for pharmacy info?

i really do not know a good psychiatrist on the NC, you may have to go to santiago. i think it is always worthy to re-evaluate the treatment every now and then, often as the patient gets better his regime can be adjusted. but this is something only a specialist will be able to judge.
