Guzm?n Ariza is pleased to announce that Dr. Manuel Ulises Bonnelly Vega has joined Guzm?n Ariza as head of a newly-created criminal law department at the firm. Dr. Bonnelly recently resigned from his position as judge of the Criminal Division of the Court of Appeals for the National District, after a 15-year career in the Dominican judiciary. A law graduate of Pontificia Universidad Cat?lica Madre y Maestra (1994), Dr. Bonnelly obtained a doctorate in criminal law at the University of Buenos Aires, with a sub-specialty in money laundering and asset forfeiture.
A professor of Criminal Law at the Pontificia Universidad Cat?lica Madre y Maestra for many years, Dr. Bonnelly is the author of several important books in the field, among them: Code of Criminal Procedure with commentaries (C?digo Procesal Penal con comentarios), Due Process during the Transition (El debido proceso en la etapa de transici?n), Introduction to the Dominican Code of Criminal Procedure (Introducci?n al C?digo Procesal Penal dominicano), and Civil Asset Forfeiture (La extinci?n de dominio o confiscaci?n civil de bienes).
