Packages at Office of Exchange???

I tried to send a couple of small packages with clothes and other small items through the USPS to Santo Domingo.
I sent them on August 28.
They have not arrived yet.
I asked USPS - and they said that the packages were at the Office of Exchange since September 5.
What does that mean?
And - anybody have an idea who to call there?
I am guessing this is now in the Dominican Postal system.

Perhaps you should consider a reputable door-to-door shipping company next time you ship items to the DR my friend! They really aren't that expensive. My guess is that your packages are still at Aduanas/Customs like Der Fish says. If not, check with the main INPOSDOM in Santo Domingo. Good luck buddy!

Thanks for the info!

I do not ship packages very often. I usually bring things as I travel back and forth.
These were only two small boxes (12" x 12" x 6") and value less than $200 - so I did not expect any issues - but it is taking a very long time.
