In Cabarete, Dominican Republic, Laurel Eastman Kiteboarding (LEK) is a successful kiteboarding school and retail shop in operation since 2003. At LEK we focus on providing an incredible guest experience. LEK sets the standard in Cabarete for high quality kiteboarding training, exceptional guest services and fun! We are looking for a special person who is very cheerful, helpful and loves people. We hire bright, outgoing, positive and solution-minded people who are passionate about life, work, and play. This is an office job with a million dollar view of the sea?shoes are optional!
Reports to: Ricardo Gomez, General Manager
Duties:
Help ensure smooth operation of the LEK kite school and retail shop.
Enthusiastically assist all guests and team members.
Expertly teach potential guests about the features and benefits of all LEK services and products offered.
Guest Services: registration, facility tours and kite safety briefings; helping provide equipment & connecting them to their instructors; recording lesson hours and booking lessons; helping address any ?problems? with guests and making sure they are happy; check-out and closing of accounts; guest satisfaction survey.
Selling kite gear and other products. Completing sales transactions using the POS system.
Cash register duties including counting cash, daily closings.
Retail inventory item counting.
Working Conditions:
Position is part-time (30-35 hours per week), afternoons or mornings, 6 days/week, with a regular day off that may be changed due to staffing requirements.
Environment is a small air conditioned retail shop on the beach; in front of the shop on the beach; and in the adjacent stockroom.
Employee will spend most of his/her time on his/her feet.
Employment Requirements:
Loves people and has a strong commitment to guest service.
Has a pleasant, friendly, positive and enthusiastic style; is happy and athletic.
Very comfortable with computers, touch typing preferred.
Work experience in a developing country preferred.
Retail sales experience preferred.
Fluent & professional spoken and written English (other languages are a bonus).
Excellent listener, including Active Listening.
Passionate about excellence and constant improvement.
Flexible about schedule changes.
Experience in a fast paced, and dynamic (changing) organization.
Highly ethical.
Strong in problem solving and able to work accurately under pressure.
Must not mind working in the shop some afternoons when others are out kitesurfing.
Ideally willing to build long-term relationships with guests, and return for future seasons.
Salary LEK offers locally competitive compensation packages including hourly wage with bonuses, employee perks, and a challenging and exciting work environment.
