Let them build the wall all around the border regardless of who complains. Each country must do what they have to do to boost their economy.

The way I heard it - the Chinese are paying for having the wall built........ That they're building it there because it was a very porous point to cross over. Too bad they can't build it from the Atlantic to the Caribbean.

No, read the article again, Dominican and Haitian merchants.

Here's a part of the article:

The wall’s construction has also sparked complaints from Haitian and Dominican merchants who claim that they will have to pay tax twice for the same goods, first at the country where exits and then at destination.

Here's the part where Dominicans are burning tires and complaining of the problem they will have entering Haiti..LOL..Who understand these people. Worst they are claiming it's their land and can't cross with there tractors to cultivate the land. Non mentioned taxes..rather a group of people that need Haitians/Haiti to earn the bread of the day.

Also the blatant lie of this journalist stating it's being built on dominican terriotry than says it is no man lands. A video says a thousand words..

The Great Wall of Haina!

you missing the first letter [C]haina

= to the spanish writing for the english pronunciation for China, what did i say?

Haina have an strong historic-relation to haitians anyway, related to the TC desition, most haitian went to work in the sugar cane fields around Haina, where the biggest sugar mill was located, they were required to go back to haiti after completing their job each year, but some never did

now you have this big TC issue

Getting what you asked for is sweet, especially if you don't have to pay for it as in true love.
Erecting a wailing wall is another case entirely.
I do however favour proper entry control of Haitians to the DR.
The format may be temporary worker, immigrant or visitor.

Haiti builds a wall at the border

The government of Haiti is building a cement wall in Carrizal, a popular crossing point eight kilometers away from the Dominican Migration and Customs offices in Elias Pina, reports El Dia. Dominican and Haitian traders complain that the wall will affect the normal trade flow between both countries. The traders said they will end up paying double taxation, for buying the produce in the DR and then when entering Haiti. As reported, the traders were critical of the move, saying it would destroy trade relations that have generally been good. Senator for Elias Pina, Adriano Sanchez Roa told El Dia that the measure is an attempt by the Haitian authorities to tax the vendors, and it will have a negative effect on poor people in Haiti. "We know the difficulties in Haiti and the products imported from Elias Pina were being sold at low prices. If taxes are added, then they will cost more in Haitian markets," he said. He proposed that the Senate approve a resolution for products originating in both countries to be free of taxes in both Haiti and the DR.

Sanchez said that one of the reasons for the ban of imports imposed by the Haitian government is that border exports are cheaper than imports to Haiti by sea.

The director of the Military Cartographic Institute, General Francisco Miguel Corominas said they would present a report on the inspection of the wall under construction in Haiti next week to determine if it is going up in Haitian territory.

I think that all the border between Comemendador and Malpasse is in dispute.. or rather a No Man's Land in that both nation's claim it.. I have heard this is the case for the land north of Lac Azuei which is why a new road was not built there to enter Port au Prince.. which would have made sense.

Clearly ther was a lot of money behind this one. Only the Haitian governement could have authorized it.

To stop the Dominican farmers from farming there.. and to get the Haitians used to the idea that they are going to pay taxes.

This is very fertile land. It is the high valley west of San Juan de Maguana. Most of the DR's beans are grown there.

Based on the video it is clear as water who's outraged burning tires. Dominicans are complaining they will no longer be able to farm "ON Haitian territory" and make a living if this wall is erected. It appears someone doesn't want to pay taxes, well they should demand the Dominican government not to tax them. What people tend to forget is how the border region is very dependent on each other more so than Santo Domingo or Port au Prince. The Haitian government is widening the current border crossing and attempting to become less dependent on DR commerce as Haiti can produce the same items. It appears Dominicans are the ones who don't want to let go as they are the benefactors of these so called bi-lateral agreements

Perhaps it isn't Haitian territory.

Anyways where is the dominican government officials? sleeping? if they dont move fast they will loose that territory...

The Dominican authorities are investigating on which side the wall is being erected. It is a no man's land so the DR cannot claim it or Haiti. There are boundaries.

Why not assist and help build the wall across the long border. I have realize you Dominicans don't know what you want? Talk a lot of hot air and act completely the opposite..$$$$$
