Only requires that you graduate from High School and is a six year course....Sounds pretty scary to me.

You mean it Isn't???
"Who New"?????????????????
COOL, now I don't have to worry about falling off!
Several years ago, on the local DR TV program,"7 Por 7 Roberto", they had a "High School" quiz show.
I NEVER missed it!
I laughed "Part" of my A$$ off!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Dominican high school students know NOTHING, about, EVERYTHING.
AND, it was "Multiple Choice, with 4 possible answers, only one of which was correct.
When one team selected the wrong answer, the other team had a chance to answer, they often selected the same wrong answer!
Sample question,Pablo Picasso was,.....
1, A Dominican baseball player.
2, A "Dominican "Bachatero".
3,A Spanish painter.
4, An Italian Race car driver.
If "Dominican Baseball Player" was EVER one of the choices, they always choose it as the correct answer.

I'm quite satisfied with my cardiologist here. I've been seen by a few world renown ones over the years and I think they would find him acceptable.

After working in what my be the "Best" hospital in the DR, I do not concur!
I much prefer a plane ride to Boston for my "World Class Medical Care!!!
I guess you only have Canadian Socialised Medicine to compare to!

I think that most European countries only require medical school.. not a full four years and then medical school.. the US doctors are amazingly in debt when they graduate and amazingly expensive.

The medical schools here which teach in English are set up to prepare for the US medical boards and have a good record of passing them. Then, of course, students have to get their internships and residency in the US.

I was a bit startled to see that the school is in English but the pages about the school are in Spanish.

The U.S does have a few 6 year schools, however none of them are considered highly advanced or prestigious, even the ones located at Brown and Nothwestern. The top Physicians that are at the top hospitals (Mayo, Johns Hopkins,Cleveland clinic, etc) attended normal teaching schools and attended 10 years of schooling and training.

Lots of countries have as good of medical treatment for the average non-special specialized treatment required for someone special like yourself. The USA just has the most expensive, and I the best if you can afford it.

i think maybe there is some misunderstanding when it comes to years of study. in poland it is 6 years at the university, two years low level hospital (i guess it is called residency) and then few more years of specialty. so maybe 10 to 12 years before becoming a full specialist. but the school itself is only a part of this.

People always talk about the "High Price" of medical care in the US.
"WTF"????
What do you think health insurance is for????
Get a good job, with good benefits, and pay nothing!
I now have "Medicare", but use the Veterans Administration health care system.
It's fantastic, I get med/surg, dental, and vision care.
"Obama" pays for everything!!!

Most excellent point. In the U.S if you get a part time job at one of the larger grocery store chains or any other large conglomerate you have full medical insurance. There was just a news clip on ESPN about Adrian Dantly, an X NBA player and coach. He's retired now and works part time as a school crossing guard in Montgomery Co MD. For doing that he gets full medical coverage. I have never really grasped the no health coverage aspect in the States. If you want to work, you can have full coverage.
