Need suggestion on monitoring company in Santiago

Hey guys,

Could someone please suggest an alarm monitoring/patrolling company here in Santiago? I am familiar with Alerta, and Alarm365; I would love to get suggestions of others too as well as any good/bad reviews on them. I heard that Alerta was once bad (Like a year ago) but that after they changed administration it is now "better". If you guys could also include prices for alarm monitoring/neighborhood patrolling that would be great.

Man, no response. Ok, I've done some foot work and called up a couple of these companies that monitor alarms and here are my notes for those interested.....

$850pm paid every 3 months
They only patrol when the alarm goes off
They don’t offer patrol at random times of the day

Alarma365

Basic - $600pm paid every 3 months. Only call no patrol
Plus - $990pm paid every 3 months. + Patrol when alarm is activated
VIP – $1550pm Plus + Maintenance of alarm
They only patrol when the alarm goes off

Plus = Basic + $200,000RD insurance on stolen home items (Doesn't cover cash or gold jewelry) = $1240 = paid every 3 months
VIP = Plus + Maintenance + Armed Escort to anywhere you want in Santiago, eg. Airport, bank, etc (Up to 10 per month) = $2250pm paid every 3 months.


Now if I could get some suggestions or rants about any of the companies listed above would be great. Cheers.

Well I'll give the small advice I can, in El Dorado II we have a company called ASEPRE that patrols constantly and have an emergency number. We have no alarm or anything so you'd need to call if you had an issue. I have never had to call them but they seem pretty honest and stuff. They used to charge 400 pm but raised it to 500pm after la reforma fiscal in febuary.

Regarding those companies you quoted.. do they install an alarm for you for free or something?

I am thinking that this type of security is part of a complete subdivision. Everyone is enrolled therefore a cheaper per unit price.

ask them if they go up your way, I don't think they do, since they go towards villa olga I believe. Maybe you have something similar in your area, have you tried asking your neighbors?

Ok, thanks I will call them tomorrow and find out.

Don't get me started on my neighbors; trying to reason with these people is pointless. I live in an enclosed residential area; basically you enter and exit using the same street. Between almost all the neighbors (about 12 houses) we built a guard house up front with a gate similar to this - http://www.skinnymoose.com/bbb/files/2007/11/quimbykellogmtroad.jpg.

We asked around about prices for a watchy and the price was way to high. So I gave the idea to have one of the Haitians that live in one of the houses in our residence to take the job from 7pm to 6am. Everyone was to pay $500 per month. Little by little they 3 of my neighbors came up with excuses saying they don't have enough money to pay and that they won't be paying. Now we are down to just 7 houses paying out of the 12. This is one of the reasons why I am considering just removing the Haitian and getting an alarm monitoring company. I don't like dealing with the BS.

If i was an Haitian, getting paid 6000 pesos a month, and someone would give me some heat to enter or a bribe i dont think i would refuse, specially that hes a lone.

Dont see the point to have a watchman at the entry in that type of situation when its done so cheaply, hes not gonna stop anyone to enter that really wants to enter !!!'

Are you sure that is the right number? I called and I get a constant busy signal.

I do see your point, the only difference is that they live in the complex; I don't think, or at least hoping, that they would not consider being bribed being that we all take good care of them in here: we give them clothes, food, water and electricity.

Also, I know that a Haitian in the front won't stop someone who really wants to come in; but it is an extra layer of "defense" that will hopefully convince a thief to move on to another area. Two houses in this complex, mine and a neighbors, have cameras that can see just about everything. This, plus my alarm system plus the GS I'm training with a bite sleeve I'm hoping will keep us/my family safe.
