The clock will fall back this Sunday @ 2am to 1am here in the NE USA (the change occured in Europe this past Sunday). Why doesn't DR observe the practice? Does the change in other countires affect DR and its inhabitants in any notable way other that understanding flight schedules?

They did try it - once.

after 2 weeks the President cancelled it.... a national disiater.

Chickens didn't acknowledge any change - cows neither.

Appointment were missed - they thought those times changed with the clock.

Never tried it again.

Fact or Fiction ??

LOL! Fact! It was a national disaster. Dominicans could not adapt to the time change.

dominicans do not even acknowledge the existence of time, just try to make an appointment with a dominicano to see a living proof of that. they do not observe time changes because time is not important here.

THey cannot adapt to any regulation, it seems...

lines on the road mean nada, lineups at stores - igual.... time changes

any change in a daily routine is cause for confusion...

Makes life simple , huh?

The DR has no reason to observe this practice.
I would prefer the US to not observe this practice.

too funny. do people here even have watches?

hell yes! the biggest and bligest watches you will ever see. men and women alike, men even more so.

why do they paint lines on the road anyway?

some time ago i had visitors. we went to la sirena. on the way out i get to the malecon exit and turn left.
one of my passengers tells me: you cannot turn left here.
i say: what? why?
she says: double yellow line.
i say: yeah, and?
she says: you cannot cross double yellow line.
i say: really, i thought it was here for decorative purposes.

See a Dominican guy with a huge sparking million dollar looking watch, go ask him the time, I'll bet you he reaches into his pocket to look at his cel to tell you.

the watches are all $2 watches -- empty, no Swiss movement here...

Daft as a ha'penny watch - as my grandmother would say

You guys are hilarious.....
I remember there was a huge bruhaha.
Kids were on the road to school in the pitch dark.
There were a ton of problems.
From all accounts it was a seriously traumatic experience for those that were even aware.
Many were totally oblivious, as per usual.

For those that are in places where the change does indeed take place and who have problems on occasion remembering if the clocks go forward or backward.........

Spring forward and fall back. :classic:

In the "True North Strong and Free" the autumnal time change is a sign for slumber.
Not only do the days get shorter thanks to Mother Nature, but we help it along with our tinkering with the clock.
Wheras in summer months my schedule has me up and about at 06:00, crashing at or around 24:00.......
As soon as those days start getting shorter, I get drowsier a whole lot earlier.
Sleep.......Slumber like a bear in his den becomes so much more a need and a joy.

Every year I look forward to getting my hour back. Doesn't matter how long I sleep it's not that same as getting that extra hour back. :)
