Leading television journalist Nuria Piera has described the Senate investigation into the fortune of senator Felix Bautista as a "theater" where the actors are politicians. Before entering the Fernandez government, Bautista is known to not having been able to afford buying a vehicle. Today his wealth is so vast, he has been known to make political campaign contributions abroad.

Piera went to the Joint Commission of the National Congress that was investigating Senator Felix Bautista (PLD-SJM) on Monday, 11 November and yesterday, Wednesday 13 November she said that it was shameful that the country did not have any right to an official investigation in a case of the legislator beyond the legislative branch. Nuria Piera has been investigating the origins of the fantastic fortune accumulated by Bautista for several years. In a separate statement, commission chairman Senator Prim Pujals said that Nuria seemed "nervous" given the presence of Senator Bautista. The journalist, in turn, said that Pujals had twisted her statements and that she would only be nervous if she were faced with an innocent person.

In her A.M. editorial in Diario Libre today, Wednesday 13 November, Ines Aizpun, the deputy director of the newspaper, described the appearance of Bautista and his legal team - at the invitation of the Commission, either on its own will or following orders from 'above' - "an absolutely obvious attempt to intimidate. They did not go there to listen, they went to torpedo the dialogue, to bully or coerce."

As reported, the investigative journalist did not stay to listen to the statements made by Bautista, on the grounds that the senator was never available to respond to her TV reports carried out on his work at the Office for Supervisory Public Works of the Presidency (OISOE).

it sounds like the entire ISLAND to me, HAITI AND DR. People get rich so quickly, but NO ONE knows the roots, the sources of their riches. SMH
By the way, why they would allow BATISTA to be there with his lawyers? My GOODNESS! These third world countries are doomed. The guy has amassed HUGE FORTUNES in a third world country, but NO ONE can question the origin of his wealth? God, help me!
