From today's Sosua News:

Friday November 8, the 15 motoconchos, who have their taxi stand at Villa Maranatha (Part of Sos?a), were called to the town hall. There they received from Mayor Ilana Neumann, who was accompanied by Major Suarez Burgos (National Police) and the commander of the traffic police (AMET), a green and orange colored vest. These vests give motoconchos a legal permit to perform their job as motortaxi. The motorcycle taxi drivers wondered whether this issue of the free vests puts an end to piracy under the motoconchos. Because every night dozens of motoconchos of other municipalities drive around Sos?a illegally taking the bread out of the legal conchos mouth.

The mayor assured the attendees that she will continue the action and will not stop until all motoconchos have been registered and are under control.

Can she do something about the idiots driving the wrong damn way on a one way street and then getting ****ed off at me when I flip them the numero uno sign because I won't move for them? Seriously its dumb that I have to be on the lookout at all times going down PC and around the split right before it when I am walking with my wife and kids.

I was in Las Terrenas the other day and was amazed by the way that all drivers, including moto-conchos, obey the one-way system. Maybe Sosua AMET should ask their colleagues in LT how they did it!

Valeu Cara!
I welcome the idea of vests, when I was in Bangkok, Thailand, the motorconchos were easy to spot and you knew they was legit. At least I felt they was legal.

Anyone have a picture of the new vests?

You have seen at lest two previously. This is because the city is giving the concheros their vests and is doing it piecemeal. Every time a new group is given vests, the SN makes a report.

Ah, it makes sense now, so every time new concheros become certified they get their vests together. I would wonder if the biggest snitches of unregistered conchos would be the registered conchos, that would make sense.

I was on a moto today that had a green vest on...it stunk like hell. The guy I use around the corner from my place wraps his around his handle bars along with his helmet.
