Book the 2 way flight and just use the return portion.

You can use JetairFly to get to Brussels (?199 on some dates) and then hop over to England with RyanAir for ?60 more.

if you want to fly to the UK and not come back consider a return ticket anyway. sometimes one way ticket to europe costs more than return (don't ask me how is that even possible, it is).

(of course I do not know if London is your final destination, but from London it's quite easy to get to anywhere in the UK)

Over two years ago I had an emergency, Mum was in ICU - I tried getting an emergency seat on BA but they didn't fly to the UK in time, I literally had to go the next day.. I ended up going from PUJ via JFK to LGW - it cost me $1,600 but I made it before she died... now there are many more options - Good luck and it seems that the other members here have given you some great options
