any pharmacy should have sal de epsom. sold in really small packages, about a spoonful. made by a dominican lab specializing in similar trade. it should cost between 5 to 10 pesos.

Small packages are for something else, not a bath. 10 pesos for a tea spoon size bag is too much :)

Ask for Magnesium Sulfate or whatever it is in Spanish. Could be one of those things that's cheap in the US but pricey in the DR. It's like a dollar a pound in the US. If you're not using it as a laxative, plain salt works well for soaking.

In the US, you just put a teaspoon of Epson salt in warm water and drink it. I've only known one person to use it like that~it took overnight then had *spectacular* results. It's mostly used for soaking sore joints or to relieve other swelling. It's also used as a fertilizer.

Guys, I am very happy that you have *spectacular* results with that laxative, but I was looking for epsom bath salt.

It's the same stuff.
I think it's not the same, the laxative is for internal use so it's a pure grade epsom salt, sold in small packages. Bathroom salt is for external use, maybe it's not a pure grade epsome salt but some kind of mix with regular bathroom salt, I don't know exactly, but what I know for sure is that it's sold in big packages from 1 pound to 6 pounds.

As I understand, DV8 lives on a North Coast. There are many things here in DR that available only in Santo Domingo, maybe some beauty salons sell this stuff.

No it's the same. I've got a box of the stuff right here and it's listed under "other uses." It's a simple salt so just like Borax or baking soda, it has other uses.

I once source them for somebody in Santiago who was adding essential oils to them to make bath salts. I have found the email I sent them.

Available from Grugo at 75 RD$ a kilo

avenida Pedro francisco Bono esquina Cuba (Santiago)

Tel 809 582 4922

You could call them and ask where they get them from if you don't want to drive there. As far as I remember they were exactly right for the purpose and good quality.

GRUGO is the one who makes the product i spoke about at the beginning. they make different size packages but normal pharmacies only sell the tiny ones.

One issue may be that it's made for baths. I've never seen a bathtub in the DR, and the thought of sitting in a tub of hot water must seem pretty odd in the tropics.

I have a bathtub on NC, insisted that landlord installs it in one of the bathrooms. Having 3 bathrooms and no bathtub is ridiculous.
