Hey all,

Anyone know of an affordable jeweler in Santo Domingo where I can find an engagement ring?

Thanks for any help.

Btw - I dont have an exact price range in mind but feel free to give me an idea of what's available.

Go to a compra venta as most dominicans would, cheapest youll find, then to a jeweler for a polish.

LOL. Im already divorced from an Americana. Now my Dominicana and I have a 6 month old and one more on the way in July. I am happy. But I don't see putting a month's salary on her finger. Check this out. I have not seen hardly any violence since I have been here for 2+years. But the other day it was getting late. We were going to walk to the farmacia but she was taking too long. I told her I didnt want her and the baby out at night (thought it wasnt not really dark yet.) I walk to the farmacia alone- about 6 minutes away. On the way back I see a group of people. Police were there. They had to shoot in the air to break up the crowd. Apparently there had been a ladron. I mean, we could have been right there if I had waited for her and left a few minutes later.

Interesting idea. I don't really have any skills in determining what is real from fake though.

Good chance it will end up back there if you buy genuine anyway. To be serious, I buy anything with a stone abroad, i dont even trust those that know the difference to tell the truth unless paying way over.

Most gringas I know would not wear their diamonds in the DR. Looking for trouble. Mugging or home robbery.

Buy your ring from a good pawn shop. They will weight the gold on scale . You shall be charge by the weight and the carrat. 18
carrat is the best. If you go over the ring shall be to soft and will bend went you it it on something. 14 carrat is standart. you
can buy platinium a bid more expensive and has a grey shinning color with a blue saphir from Sri-Lanka or a green emerauld from Brazil or why not a Red ruby, that shall make your love to give you back a special night. Good luck !!

14 carrot is the tradition, and is much harder than 18 and will not bent. If it does then it is not.
