Greetings to everyone. I've been a long time lurker on this forum and have found it incredibly useful for learning about the Dominican Republic in anticipation of finally visiting.

My friend and I are going to be staying in a condo vacation rental a couple of blocks from the Agora mall. Although we are both fairly experienced travelers in Latin America, we have never been to the DR and cannot seem to find a good private auto tour. We'll be here starting Wednesday evening and staying one week.

Any help would be appreciated. We are both single, just under and just over 50, neither of us are heavy drinkers but we do enjoy flirtations with the opposite sex and are interested in historical sites during the day and (if possible) non-prostitute nightlife after the sun goes down. I'm afraid my Spanish is weak and my associate's is almost non-existent. I've got two potential nightmares regarding this trip:

1. Stumbling into a club that is filled entirely with people half my age.
2. Spending most of the trip just hanging out in the casino because I'm not sure where I should go.

On a separate note, is it possible to rent a sailboat here? Many thanks in advance.

How are you going to flirt with non-prostitutes without good spanish? And why non-prostitutes would be interested in you? You are here for short vacation, pay for what you need and enjoy else u will for sure end up losing your money in casino ;)

And if you want to have a good time, come to the north coast, my spouse is a pro guide for men. Got a van, speaks english and can help you to flirt with those you will pay for.

Sheesh, let him pretend they are "Not-A-Puta" cueros, if it makes him feel better.
The tour guide can "cleanse" them.
You must have a few local friends for this mook!

You may want to see if the rental company that you rented the condo from has any suggestions for private tours. Head to the Cuidad Colonial, there are the sites and places you can sit and have a drink. I am not really good with the nightlife thing, don't really go out at night that much.

Start at the casino in the Jaragua Hotel.
Have a nice dinner at Vesuvios restaurant on the Malecon first, or in the Jaragua.
Don't need to be at the casino before 10 pm.
The girls will find YOU!!!!!!!
There is a bar inside which used to be called the "Merengue Bar", it has music, dancing and "Hot & Cold Running "CHICAS"!
If you strike out inside, there are dozens of prostitutes all along the Malecon.
Don't get drunk.
Get LAID instead!
Watch each other's back!
You don't need your passports, just carry your drivers license, cash, and no wallet.

If you go to the Colonial Zone for a tour you will find many guides anxious to help you. Ask him if he knows anyone who would be willing to take you around the city at night.
