hello all,

as i mentioned yesterday i am a newbie. this may have been answered previously however finding a concise answer has been a little difficult. background: been in the DR for just over 30 days. want to extend my stay to equal five months. i hear there's a place i can go to in the Malecon---where, what cost does this exit pass cover? 2) read i can go to haiti for a day and do something that will extend my stay here legally? 3) don't worry about it and pay an exit fee when i leave. what i don't want is trouble should i decided to come back in a few months.

you experienced DR travelers out there...please help this newbie out. gracias! aC

I think everyone will give you the same response, which is, don't worry about it, just pay the exit tax when you leave and there will be no problems when you are returning. Before you leave its good to know exactly what the tax is so they don't try to rip you off, but like I said, don't lose sleep over it, you will not have any problems.

Just have RD 800 pesos ready in exact change @ immigration on the way out and you are good to go. That makes you whole up to three months over your 29 days.
