The third weekend of the Carnival, held on the Malec?n in Puerto Plata, surpassed the previous two weekends. Near the tavern 'La Logia Restoration number 11' a stand for the jury was situated. In front of the stand, a stage was constructed where the different carnival groups could present themselves to the jury. Many thousands of enthusiastic visitors came to the Carnival party to enjoy the colorful costumes and scenes. It was a long procession of beautifully costumed individuals and groups imagining fairytale figures, politicians and historical figures and events like Dominicano Soy, Robalagallina, Tribute to the Music, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, The Scarecrow, The Bearer and Batton Ballet, African Carnival, The Rules of Tribe, Independencia Dominicana and Hunters Cuatreros, to name just a few. The Ministry of Tourism and various companies including Brugal, Presidente Beer and Coca Cola made prizes available for the best and most original costumes and performances.
The more than twenty prizes were awarded ranged from 1,000 to 15,000 pesos. Afterwards there was a wonderful performance of merengue band Los Hermanos Rosario
