due to prices for going to pop i,m thinking of flying into santiago . is there an economical way to get from santiago airport to cabarete . does caribe tours run a bus that stops near the airport that i could take to sousa and then a gua gua to cabarete ? does anybody have a reliable taxi person who speaks english . all info will be appreciated . even if i have to spend the nite in santiage it would be cheaper than 300$ in airfare. american airlines is a rip off

Depends on what time of day you land. At night no go. During the day a simple taxi to Caribe Tours or Metro gets you to Sosua easily. They don't have a terminal near STI, no. I use Elias 809-842-5557 when I need a Taxi, good man, nice vehicle and speaks English.

I would recommend a driver who lives 10 minutes away from STI instead as it's more convenient just in the even of a flight delay or cancellation, very common during the winter time specially for travelers from JFK.

Jose Garcia 809-223-7027 I drove for the same taxi union he's been working for long time...

The best way to contact him is thru the Whats-app messenger application.

Couldn't agree more. Fares to POP are absolutely ridiculous but in good part has to do with POP airport taxes being slightly more expensive than other airports. There was some comments on this forum a few years back that also jet fuel is more expensive to airlines coming to POP. Not sure it is true

american airlines is a rip off

As has been recommended here:
Taxi (daytime, maybe RD$500 to Metro or Caribe Tours (same street)--Caribe Tours has more buses to Sos?a.
Sos?a by bus mayb RD$250?

Guagua or taxi to Cabarete? No idea.

Certainly cheapest

Any taxi will understand: Caribe Tours? How much? Cuanto? Use your hand to signal 5

Most economical and practical is a taxi to metro bus from santiago to sosua. Across the street from the metro station in sosua is a publico carro station (50 pesos or less per person to cabarete). Est 500-600 pesos taxi to metro caribe, 250 pesos to sosua, 50 pesos publico. More or less 900 pesos (less than $25.00 US per person). Done it many times.

I just decided that the cost to Fly to Santiago & travel to Cabarete was NOT worth the effort, even if it costs more to fly into PP (Luperon) I will do so in the future, getting up early in the morning , getting a ride on the Mountain road.. the whole experience was awful. My opinion... I will stick with my Direct Flight with JetBLUE to PP

I am going back in late sept and the flts in and out change , now in sept I come in at 3pm and leave out of there at 4pm on return flight so that is a lot better than the late night and early morning. to each their own I just like saving 400$ for 2 people as that buys a lot of brugal and president. enjoy !!!!!!!!!!
