Does anyone know the schedule of Kilowatt charges for Sosua?
It used to be on the bill but no more.
Can't find it on their website either.

0 to 200 kWh 4.44 RD$
300 to 400 kWh 6.97 RD$
300 to 700 kWh 10.86 RD$

over 700 kWh and all is charged at 10.86 RD$

It was on my bill this month (February).

Thanks. We didn't get a bill this month just a cut off notice even though we paid up through the end of January.

Strange. What is showing on your bill for the Cargo Fijo? For 2013 December ours was 37.25 this year for January 2014 we were charged 137.95.

For January for 871 KWH we were charged 11.10 per KWH not 10.86.
Maybe over 700 is more?

We used to get our electricity bill like explained by Windeguy . We live in Costambar.
We are so lucky that we have completely new lines and transformers and since last month we have electricity 24/7 (almost..).
And the bill has changed too- hmmmmm
NOW we pay 11.06 pesos for each kilowatt consumed no matter how much we consume… This is a huge raise actually..
So prepare yourself if you are living in Costambar….

21 you are very lucky. I am about to move because I cant take these apagones and I HATE inversores with a passion.

Anyone seen the movie Office Space? As soon as I move I am gonna recreate that scene with the printer and beat that inversor to pieces!!!!

Anyone know if PRO-CONSUMO an advocate group is located in PP? I have a 10,700 peso bill that got sprung on me yesterday. Seems that one of my meters was not functioning since Oct 2013 so they just replaced it now...never notified me. However, they accepted my monthly payments with a paid stamp on it. Pretty tired of the surprises and BS.

There used to be one on the next block after (east) of Bourigal clinic. Same side of street.

Cargo Fijo is 137.25 on my bills. It may be that they have a new higher rate of 11.10 instead of 10.86 for each and every kWh for going over 700 kWh. I have not done so in a long time so I cannot say for sure on that.

The Cargo Fijo is 137.25 if you use electricity, if not it is 37.25 - this was changed (100 added) last year around summer time.

If you don't pay the bill or standing charge (Cargo Fijo) for about two months I think, then you are disconnected (well not really physically but on your account). Then have to pay 300 for reconnection (this is also gone up from 200).

Edenorte did well in Jan and early Feb, but we had long power cuts last Sun and Tue in Sosua - in fact I was in their office once when there was a power cut and joking said I won't pay the standing charge for the days with power cuts ! they looked at me with total confusion (priceless !?!?).

Got some info. The Cargo Fijo is $137.25. Said in Dec the 37.25 we were charged was wrong. Score 1 for us. The reason we got a notice instead of a bill was they said this is a short month and with today being a holiday they didn't want the rush on Friday.

Would like to start reading our meter but not sure what day to start it on? Any ideas welcome.

And yes this month seemed like lots of power cuts in Sosua.

Find the billing date on your bill and start reading it on that day in the following month.

I've gotten two bills since we were switched to the new lines. Consumption is up, but our rates have not. If you are paying a flat 11.06 per KW then it sounds like you exceeded the magic 700KW threshold. However, in the past, that was computed at the 10.10(?) rate. Is it possible that the 700KW threshold rete has changed?

If I understand correctly, the new service in Costambar is 24/7 and for that privilege the price for each and every kWh is 11.06 since this in NOT through Edenorte. Did I get that right?

Interesting how they change just about everything without letting their customers know - in the good old west you get a letter from them a month or so before, although I don't like that much either - waste of money and paper, they could just say it on the current bill that from next month we change this and that, saves paper - not that you can do anything about it, is there another power company offering me better rates here !!!!?

Sorry Windguy, but that is not correct. See my earlier post.

I was looking for this thread so I can tell you guys how things work the magical world of Dominicus/Bayahibe.

The bill is from CEB Compania de Electricidad de Bayahibe

Ene. 28 days 88 KWh at 14.9800 - 1318.24 pesos
Feb. 28 days 122 kWh 14.9800 - 1827.56
Mar. 28 days 148 kwh 14.9800 - 2217

That's 24 hrs of service. Never a day without luz. I never used the air. Had fans going most of the time. I think that included water and gas for stove because I was not charged separately. The only thing I used the most was my computer but that doesn't use much does it?

I had heard that electricity was very expensive in that area so I was very careful the first month but had more guests in the month of March that's what made the difference.

Confused is correct! I live in Costambar also, and I'm still being billed at the three rates quoted. Fortunately, I have not hit the dreaded 700kW level, so can't speak to what happens then. I think a visit to EdeNorte should be in your future.
