*I recently relocated to The Dominican Republic to live and start a family
with the love of my life, However I am finding it very hard to find work.
I speak a small amount of spanish, but I am proficient in English. I have
experience in multiple areas of customer service. I was in Banking for 6
years. However I am not limited to this type of work. Any suggestions on
how I can be successful on my journey?

Warmest Regards
Lori K.

It's not easy, as everyone will tell you.

What part of the country are you in?

Welcome to DR1

Do you have Dominican Residency? I is not legal to work here without it.
You don't speak Spanish fluently. Makes it harder.

Where are you living?

How far away is home in case you need to return?

When you say that you are "proficient in English", does that mean that English is not your native tongue???
Speaking Russian, Italian, french, can help get a job in the tourist industry here.
What does your husband do????
If you want to start a family you may not be able to do much work yourself.
Good luck, and welcome to the DR, & to "DR1"!!!!!!

here is my thinking on this; if you need to go and find work, that tells me that you are not well heeled. it also tells me that Mr Lover Lover isn't a guy with too much paper, either. so, let's see how this works if you don't get a job, soon, and he has to be footing all the bills. at least you can tell him that it is a downpayment on the visa.

Hi! You should look up Academia Europea. They often have adds on the newspaper offering language teaching positions. The adds say they provide teaching training and free Spanish classes.

Why? I can tell you what her answer will look like:

"My one is different than the others bla bla bla... and you guys know absolutely nothing..." :D

That is what i am hoping for. People in denial make good entertainment.

you beat me to it. these people should buy lottery tickets, they are so lucky. these special, different people have been here all their lives, and nobody took them, because they were leaving them for the lucky foreigner.

Call center might be a good start, depending on where she is located in DR

Probably a "SOCK".
Just post, and let us do the entertaining!
