Need some specific advice on using the Amex Bluebird card in the DR.

I do not recall if the large stores like La Sirena accept American Express. I usually use my Visa.

What banks can Bluebird be used to withdraw money from an ATM?

Thank you,

RMS

Bluebird Bueno

RMS,

I recently have worked on kicking B of A to the curb and using Bluebird. So far, Pappaterra, La Sirena,HOMS hospital, Ochoa, PriceSmart, Nacional, Playero and even little Chemi/Extra in Gaspar take it...specifically BlueBird. No charges. No Fees.

I have only been able to withdraw at Progresso - the national Amex affiliate. With a $2 charge. Still beats the $5 plus 3% at B of A/Scotia.

Caribeman, just confirming you used a Progresso ATM and no issues? I presume the card can be used at any Progresso? Would be awesome as there is a Progresso cajero at the Texaco in Imbert, which is where my novia resides.

Met a guy who claimed he got USD out of an ATM here in Puerto Plata, so I offered him $50.00 to show me where it was, and he couldn't remember.

I've seen ATM's that dispense more than one currency, but only in countries that accept both equally. Never in the DR though.
