Today we went to the Feria Ganadera exhibition in Santo Domingo, we go every year but this year was bigger and better. It's primarily/originally for those engaged in, or interested in, farming. There's actually something for everything, an outdoor convention of what seemed to be every business in DR represented.

If you have ANY interest in raising farm animals or growing 'anything', you have to go. The actual animals are there, along with anything you might need, or didn't know you needed, for them. Unusual varieties of avocados, platanos, etc.

For the rest of the family there is a mercado selling fruits, veggies, meats, eggs, flowers, you name it.

There are folks representing companies selling everything from propane conversion kits, to alternatives to zinc roofing which is sold in custom sizes [one long piece, no patching], to solar well pumps.

There are pony rides at the rear. There are carnival rides at the front [along malecon].

This only lasts a week, started this weekend, ends next Sunday. It's held at the Feria Ganadera, which is on the malecon/30 de Mayo/western end. It's literally in front of the Presidente Beer Factory, across the street from the Leon Jimenez building with the giant DR flag covering most of the front. If you know where the Trujillo Monument [where he was killed] is, this is about a mile closer to Santo Domingo.
