I am looking for a mechanic that has experience working on the larger type motorcycles. Mine is a 800 cc Suzuki. Most of these mechanics have never even been near one of these and I can see the cunfuson in their eyes when I tell them what I want. I am in Santiago.

Perhaps you could ask other owners of larger Suzukis, or try the stores selling parts for recommendations. That is how I once found a decent Renault mechanic in the US long ago.

There are a LOT of videos on youtube of people repairing motorcycles.

What do you need to have repaired?

It sounds like not enough fuel, or perhaps too much. If it is too much, you should be able to smell it.
Is is possible that a fuel injector jet is clogged? Or otherwise it could be a carburetor problem. I make no claims to expertise. Stuff gets in the gas and clogs things up.

That's my thoughts as well,,,,carberator.....not the sort of thing I want to tinker with

Then you might find someone who can rebuild carburetors. In a parts store the clerk might know who buys lots of carb rebuild kits.

When I had a car with a carb (a 1986 Hyundai Excel), I found that a spray can of carb cleaner often solved the problem entirely. Gumout makes one brand that I have used satisfactorily. You just squirt short blasts into the carb with the motor running and listen for a change in sound. Do not get too close if you value your eyebrows. Engines can backfire. You use a small tube that comes with the cleaner and aim it at parts that move and things that seem to squirt. A shiny carb is always better than a carb with a lot of varnish-like deposits. Stuff builds up and then tiny chunks break off and get into narrow jets and constrict or clog them.

In 1965 I converted two boxes of parts into a used yellow Yamaguchi. It ran really well after three week' work. Then the Cowlitz River hid itself behind a huge snowbank and I got off just in time. I bet it is still there.

So I am not an expert on motorcycle repair. You might consult someone who knows more.

thanks Frank. I will keep that in mind. Im sure I can make it on one cyl but I will wait a bit to see if I get a different option.

I have been told there is a guy here in Santiago who works on these types of bikes but nobody can tell me how to find him. Maybe just a rumor.
